We have moved into February, and around the globe, life can feel heavy. Have you noticed tasks that took nine steps a few years ago now seem to take ninety-nine? From the weight of our personal journeys to severe weather extremes and from freezing dampness to biting cold, our bodies feel the shift.
From skin and hair dryness to an internal lack of hydration and energy, the winter “downtime” is real. How can we stimulate, invigorate, and motivate ourselves and our network? After all, this is the month of LOVE. Love for self, and love for others.
Most of us notice skin changes immediately. However, our hair and nails are the two parts of the body most often taken for granted. They are easy to ignore—just wash and go, scrub and clip—until something happens and… bing, bing, bing… suddenly, they are all you can think about.
Show yourself some love. Take “me” time with nutrients and habits that nourish and renew.
The Mineral Foundation
Our HU Healthy followers already know that MINERALS are the foundation of your body. Humic and Fulvic Acid—broad-spectrum, food-based nutrients—are the foundation for nutrition. They allow all other nutrients to be absorbed, helping the body maintain what it needs and discard what it does not.
We are MINERAL-made, cast from earth elements.
The human body is a masterpiece of systems, elements (matter), and molecules (water). You are formed from trillions of cells organized into tissues, organs, and made of three core systems:
- ELEMENTS (Major & Trace Minerals): Boron, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, and over 80 others.
- ORGANIC MOLECULES: Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids (fats), and Nucleic Acids (DNA).
- STRUCTURE:
- Cells – Basic building blocks (skin cells, blood cells, nerve cells).
- Tissues – Group similar cells (muscle tissue, connective tissue).
- Organs – Various tissues working together (heart, lungs, brain).
- Organ Systems – Organ groups with complex functions (digestive system, nervous system).
What a machine we have—the HUman body. It is a gift; take care of it.
The Science of Strength: Keratin & Bonds
This knowledge brings us to the little (or big) matter of your hair and nails. Both are primarily made of a tough, fibrous protein called keratin, which provides strength and structure. They consist of hardened cells filled with this protein, forming protective structures that grow directly from the skin.
Keratin’s resilience comes from sulfur-containing amino acids, like cysteine. These amino acids form stabilizing strong bonds that act as molecular bridges, holding protein chains tightly together (think of a reinforced web). These bonds are vital for the stability of your hair and nails.
When those bonds are weak, you see the results: brittle, dry, shedding, or thinning hair. While hair, skin, and nails all share keratin as a building block, their structures differ—nails form hard plates, hair forms strong filaments, and skin remains a flexible, protective barrier.
Essential Nutrients for Synthesis
C the Difference

Vitamin C is a distinct, essential nutrient for hair and nail vitality. It is critical for collagen production, providing the structure that prevents brittleness. As a powerful antioxidant, it protects hair follicles from environmental stress and aids in iron absorption, which is crucial for hair growth, strength, and flexibility of both hair and nails.
Additionally, Vitamin C boosts immune function which is why many practitioners use it to support immunity. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant when mixed with the right supplemental nutrients. Vitamin C along with tremella mushroom offer a holistic approach to overall wellness, supporting:
- joint mobility
- natural collagen-rich tissue building
- and immune resilience.
Not surprisingly, Vitamin C while also promoting the health and beauty of your hair, skin, and nails.
The Sulfur Secret
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural nutrient composed of sulfur and oxygen. MSM supports:
- cartilage health by promoting collagen production
- promotes joint flexibility
- and regulates inflammatory responses.
MSM, together with Vitamin C, enhances and contributes to the maintenance of healthy skin, hair, and nails. The two work in synergy, with Vitamin C enhancing the bioavailability of MSM. Together, they support:
- cartilage health
- joint flexibility
- collagen synthesis
- and potent anti-inflammatory response
From Brittle to Bold

Biotin (Vitamin B7) is responsible for helping:
- the body break down food for energy
- support metabolism of fats, carbs, builds proteins
- and aids the health, strength and resilience of hair, nails and skin
Without adequate biotin, hair and nails can become thin, brittle, or discolored. While found in foods like salmon and spinach, it is a key pillar of our Collagen Synthesis, derived from holy basil and sunflower seeds.
Mindful Nutrition: Food as Medicine
Food is your first medicine. It starts with purchasing the best fuel possible—free from preservatives, chemicals, dyes, stimulants, and GMOs. Mindfulness is requisite; knowing what you are consuming and where it comes from and what’s “in” it is crucial. Disease does not just happen.
Supplementation is beneficial for your health, especially as you age. Busy schedules cause us to forgo healthy meal preparation and intake; which means we may not consume enough necessary nutrients. And as you age, you may find yourself less hungry and simply forget you need the necessary nutrients from actually “eating”.
