What is Hydrosol? Hydrosol (from Latin “hydro” meaning water, “sol” meaning solution) is produced during the same distillation process as essential oils. When essential oils float to the top of the distillate and are removed, the remaining watery distillate is the hydrosol — also known as a plant or floral water.
HUmineral uses only true hydrosol made from steam distillation of fresh lavender plant material, with no synthetic fragrances or preservatives. It contains 0.02-0.05% of the hydrophilic parts of the essential oil and carries the cellular water from inside the plant itself.
Note: Adding essential oils to purified water is not a hydrosol. HUmineral uses only true hydrosol.
Hydrosol vs. Essential Oil — Key Difference: Lavender hydrosol contains naturally occurring minerals including magnesium, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, chromium, potassium, and sodium. Its polysaccharide compounds support exceptional water-retention properties — holding nearly 500 times its own weight in water, surpassing hyaluronic acid.
