I decided to gift myself more movement and more exercise in 2025. This morning, I woke up thinking about moving my legs more. Aside from walking, using two feet to get around is much easier and faster when you’re pedaling on a bike. Not surprisingly, bicycling is one of the most popular modes of transportation and exercise in the world. The benefits of bicycle riding? Biking is a fun way to get healthy – body and mind.
Biking for Body Health
Whether you bike recreationally for fun, or strenuously for exercising, using an actual bike outside or a stationary bike at the gym or at home, the benefits of biking are easy to catalog. Not only does biking burn calories, but it also builds and tones muscles that most people don’t use when sitting at their desks or even walking from place to place. Biceps and triceps even get a noticeable workout. Bicycling also:
- improves heart health
- reduces stress
- strengthens bones,
- and improves joint health
As you age, maintaining bone density becomes increasingly important.
Biking to Support Bone Density
Humic Acid (HA) may support bone health by enhancing the bioavailability of essential minerals like calcium and magnesium, which are vital for bone formation and density. Through its chelating ability, HA binds to these minerals, making them more readily absorbed and utilized by the body. This process can help deliver crucial nutrients to bone tissue, potentially improving bone mineralization and density.
Humic Acid contains all major and trace minerals and supports your body’s natural ability to assimilate these nutrients. Studies have shown that supplementing with humic acid mineral can have positive effects on bone structure and mineral content, promoting overall bone health.
Humic Acid may help mitigate bone loss by reducing inflammation and promoting better mineral absorption in the bones.
Humic Acid minerals are natural organic compounds formed through the chemical and biological processes of decomposition and transformation of organic matter, primarily plant and animal remains, along with the synthetic activity of microorganisms. HA consists of complex, multichain molecules featuring numerous phenolic and carboxyl groups, as well as their derivatives. These chemical structures contribute to HA’s unique properties, including its absorption capacity, water solubility, and ability to bind cations or mycotoxins.
Research on Humic Acid (HA) highlights its potential in disease prevention and treatment, with studies suggesting a positive impact on bone growth. HA appears to enhance mineral absorption and may stimulate bone cell activity, contributing to stronger, healthier bones. Additional findings confirm that HA’s natural compounds show great promise in supporting overall health and well-being.

Potential for Bone Growth
Research suggests that Humic Acid (HA) may also stimulate the activity of osteoblasts, the cells responsible for bone formation. This stimulation could potentially promote increased bone growth and strength.
While further research is ongoing, a 2022 histological study using Humic Acid (HA) revealed significant findings. The study observed a notable increase in the number of osteons (the fundamental structural units of compact bone) and osteoblasts (bone-synthesizing cells) in the femur’s bone tissue. Additionally, there was an increase in the number of osteons and osteoblasts in the sternum’s bone tissue. The cartilaginous tissue of the sternum also showed an increase in the number and organization of chondrocyte columns (cells responsible for cartilage formation) and the total number of chondrocytes within these columns.
Macro Minerals
The results of the histological study on bone tissue revealed an increase in structural macro elements—essential chemical elements required in significant quantities for biological functions. These macro minerals include calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus, and sulfur (known as major minerals). Additionally, the study highlighted a redistribution of osteotropic trace elements, such as selenium, gold, molybdenum, and copper (known as micro (trace) minerals), within the blood and bone tissue. These findings suggest that humic acid supplementation may enhance bone growth and mineralization, improving overall bone tissue health and strength. Note: Humic/Fulvic Acid Mineral contains ALL major and trace minerals.
Ongoing research will continue to deepen our understanding of Humic and Fulvic Acid minerals and their potential specific impact on bone health.
Humic Acid Mineral – Topically
The health benefits of Humic and Fulvic Acid minerals extend beyond internal use—topical applications are showing promise as well. Studies have demonstrated that applying a poultice containing Humic and Fulvic Acid can accelerate wound healing. This is achieved by promoting angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), stimulating fibroblast activity, and reducing the distribution of inflammatory cells. Such applications have shown effectiveness for wounds, bumps, burns, and even signs of aging.
Angiogenesis happens when new blood vessels form from existing ones. Fibroblast is a type of cell that produces collagen (which magnesium and zinc creates naturally in the body, and is in HA), and other extracellular matrix proteins, primarily responsible for building and maintaining connective tissue within the body. Fibroblasts is the key role in the support process of angiogenesis which creates the necessary environment for new blood vessels to form.

The Benefits of Bicycle Riding: Spinning Wheels for Mental Health
Studies show that exercise can increase blood flow to the brain, which reduces stress, releases endorphins, and acts to reduce anxiety triggered by stressors at home or work. Bicycling also helps build self-confidence and improves self-image—with every mile you pedal, with every physical improvement in form and health, you will grow in positive mind-body attitude.
Adding Biking to Your Routine
When you think about biking, it’s easy to worry about the time commitment—where will you fit it into your already busy day? And what about the cost of a bike and all the accessories? While biking for 30 minutes to an hour can seem time-consuming, consider it not just as exercise but as a fun family experience or, more importantly, a gift to yourself. After all, it’s about improving your health. You can add biking to your weekend plans—bike to get coffee, go to yoga, visit the beach, attend a class, or simply explore your neighborhood. Squeeze in a ride between dinner and laundry if that works.
If you’re serious about using cycling to get fit, improve your mind, and reduce stress, you’ll find a way to make it part of your routine. Plus, with the added benefits of this activity, you’ll be strengthening your bone density and boosting your overall health.
Bicycling really can improve physical and mental health, but it is also a great way to feed the soul. Get outside, meet other cyclists, join a cycling club and of course an opportunity to purchase new workout gear. There’s more to biking for health than hopping on and pedaling—your two feet can help you push forward into a new LIVEstyle.
